A warning light just came on and the manual is in the glovebox — or lost. Photograph your instrument cluster and Car Warning Light ID tells you which lamps are lit, what each one means, the common causes, and most importantly what to do now.

How it works

  1. Turn the ignition on and shoot the cluster straight on.
  2. Every recognised lamp comes back with its name, meaning and likely causes.
  3. Lamps are sorted worst first — anything that says Stop comes before anything that says Check soon or Info.

Where the advice comes from

The AI only recognises which lamps are lit. Every meaning, cause and action comes from a hand-written library of 31 common dashboard lamps, so a red brake warning always carries the urgent wording — never a softened version. If a lamp isn't in the library it's listed under "Unclear icons" with a short description instead of being guessed.

What it won't do

It's a reader, not a mechanic. It can't diagnose the exact fault behind a lamp, read manufacturer-specific icons outside the 31 common ones, or tell you the fix. Stop wording means what it says: pull over when it is safe, switch off the engine and get the car checked before driving on.

Questions

Which warning lights does it know?

The 31 most common dashboard lamps: red safety warnings (brakes, oil pressure, coolant temperature, power steering and so on), yellow and amber cautions (check engine, ABS, tire pressure, low coolant, DPF…), plus the blue high beam and the green status lights.

What does "Stop" versus "Check soon" actually mean?

Stop means pull over as soon as it is safe, switch off the engine and do not keep driving until the car has been checked. The wording is fixed and never softened. Check soon means keep driving gently and book a check. Green and blue lamps are informational.

My lamp isn't in the list — what then?

Icons the library can't match come back under "Unclear icons" with a short description, so you know what to search for. If an unrecognised light is red or flashing, treat it as a stop warning and check your owner's manual.

How do I know it read my dashboard right?

The AI can misread a small or unusual icon. Check that each lamp it lists matches the one on your dash, and when a red light is on, follow the Stop advice rather than the tool's best guess.

Can it tell me what's broken?

No — it identifies which lamps are lit and their common causes, not the fault in your specific car. That still needs a diagnostic scan.
