Try it with an example

Pick one on the next page and run it, or bring your own.

Your child says the homework is done. Is it right? Homework Checker looks at a problem they have already worked through and tells you: the verdict, which line of their working goes wrong first and why, the correct solution, and one tip for helping them avoid the same mistake next time.

How it works

  1. Photograph one finished problem with all of your child's working in frame.
  2. If the page has several problems, say which one ("question 4").
  3. Read the check: verdict, line-by-line notes, the first mistake, the correct solution.

Finds the mistake, not just the answer

  • Every line of your child's working is checked in order, so you see exactly where it went off track
  • Lines after the first mistake are judged on whether they follow from your child's own line, so one slip is not counted five times
  • The first mistake is explained in plain words: what went wrong and why it happens

Built for checking, not for copying

The tool only checks work that is already on the page. If there is no working under the problem, it asks you to photograph it after your child has had a go. For a student who is stuck before starting, a hint-based tool is the better fit.

Questions

Won't my child just use it to get the answers?

It is built for checking finished work: it needs the student's own working in the photo, and refuses a problem with nothing written under it. It does show the correct solution after the check, so it is meant for parents and tutors rather than for the student to use alone.

Which subjects and levels does it handle?

It works best on problems with written working — maths, physics and chemistry calculations from primary school to high school. Essays and open-ended answers are not what it is built for.

What if the handwriting is messy?

The check starts by transcribing each line as written, so you can see what it read. If a line was misread, retake the photo in even light with the page flat. If it cannot read the working at all, it says so instead of guessing.

Is the check always right?

It is usually right on school-level problems, but it can make mistakes, especially on handwriting it misreads or on unusual methods. Use the line-by-line notes to follow its reasoning, and check the corrected solution yourself before going through it with your child.

How is the photo handled?

The photo and the result are kept for 7 days so you can come back to them, then deleted. Avoid photographing pages with your child's full name or school details on them.
