Water Sort — Free Color Sorting Puzzle Game

Water Sort is a calm logic puzzle: bottles hold layered colors, and you can only pour the top run of a color into an empty bottle or onto the same color. Sort every color into its own bottle in as few pours as you can.

60 verified puzzles, three chapters

  • Warm-up (1–20): 2 to 5 colors, including three interactive tutorials.
  • Full shelf (21–40): 6 to 8 colors, tighter interleaving.
  • Deep mix (41–60): 8 to 10 colors, deeper layering.

Every level was generated and then verified by a real-rule solver: each one is solvable, and the in-game "fewest possible" count is a proven BFS minimum, not a guess. Levels are deduplicated against color renames and bottle reordering — no palette swaps padding the count.

Tools that respect your brain

  • Undo and restart are free — using them or hints marks the run as Assisted; clean runs are tracked separately.
  • Hint searches from your actual board for a pour that leads to a finish (250 ms budget; if it can't find one in time, it says so instead of guessing).
  • View solution walks through the reference solve as a demo that never counts as your clear.
  • Every color carries a symbol as well as a hue, so puzzles never rely on color vision alone.

Daily puzzle and challenges

A daily puzzle rotates at 00:00 UTC for everyone. Finish a level and you get a result text with a challenge code like ATG1-WS-r1-c1-l12 — a friend enters it to play the exact same level from scratch.

Questions

Are the puzzles always solvable?

Yes. Every one of the 60 levels was verified by a solver that plays by the exact same rules as the game, and the "fewest possible" number shown in the HUD is a proven BFS minimum for that board. If you reach a dead end, undo and restart are always available.

What counts as one move?

One legal pour from one bottle into another — regardless of how many units move. Selecting, canceling and invalid taps never count.

When is a run "Assisted"?

When you use a hint or an undo. Assisted clears still earn stars and count as completing the level, but they're recorded separately from clean runs so best-move comparisons stay fair.

How does the hint work?

It searches from your current board (not from the start) for a pour that leads to a complete solution, within a 250 ms budget, and highlights the source and target bottles. If the search doesn't finish in time it says so honestly — it never suggests a known dead end just because it's legal.

What is the daily puzzle?

One level per day, the same for everyone, chosen by the UTC date and changing at 00:00 UTC. You can retry it as often as you like.

What are challenge codes?

After clearing a level you can show a result text like Water Sort · Level 12 · 24 moves · 03:18 · No assists · ATG1-WS-r1-c1-l12. The final code replays that exact level for anyone who enters it. Scores are self-reported for friendly competition, not certified rankings.

Does it work for colorblind players?

Yes — every color also has a distinct symbol printed on each segment, so sorting never depends on hue alone.

Where is my progress saved?

On this device in your browser, automatically. Sign in to sync stars and best results across devices. A board in progress survives refreshing the page — you'll be offered to continue it. The game is free with no ads, energy or paywalls.
